about

NOUVELLES PIÈCES DE CLAVECIN (2011)
The dance suites of Jacqueline Elizabeth de la Guerre, François Couperin, and Jean Philippe Rameau served as models which influenced the greatest keyboardist/composers of 17th-18th century Europe and culminated in the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Nouvelles Pièces fuses the hottest dance beats and gestures of the Baroque period with extended Jazz harmonies and catchy, Blues licks. The suite opens with an improvisatory Tocade and ends with an exciting four-voice fugue based on a theme by Jeff Richmond made famous in the American TV series “30 Rock.” Although originally composed for harpsichord this suite can also be performed on clavichord, fortepiano, or modern piano. Nouvelles Pièces was premiered in the Smarano Organ Festival and received honorable mention in the 2011 Aliénor International Harpsichord Composition Competition.
